Horoscope for the week [May. 14th, 2008|05:13 pm]

rei082
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): During your entire life, you have maybe
never been as free as you are now from the need to be rescued by some
savior. You don't need anyone to rescue you from your own dark
fantasies because, at least for the moment, your bright fantasies have
rendered them obsolete. You don't need anyone to liberate you from
oppression or enslavement, because you are fully empowered to do the
job yourself. You don't even need anyone to deliver you from evil, since
your recent hard work has made evil allergic to you.

Queen's tea, beginning stages [May. 13th, 2008|12:35 pm]

rei082
So I have been given the task of setting up the Queen's tea at Pennsic this year.  I'm pretty excited about it but I've never done anything like this (the unbelts dinner last year doesn't count) so I'm starting to worry!  I am still waiting to hear what food are being made so that I can maybe get a few more things if I think its needed.  Decorations, entertainment, and general ambiance are still not exactly hammered down.  Not to mention my outfit!  HRM wants a sort of Persian theme but doesn't have any definate ideas about what she wants.  Massages, henna, background music?

Ginny, I'm going to wait to see what food is planned than send out something to the bees.  Do you have anything for the rest of it though?  I think we should just do a Buckeyes theme party and be done with it :)

Finally recovoered from Baron Wars? [May. 12th, 2008|12:12 pm]

rei082
So Baron Wars was loads of fun.  I was the head retainer and I think everything went ok.  At least Tessa and Lutr got to everything they wanted to do and we had people helping the whole time!  The most absurd part was getting the thrones around in golf carts because golf carts just aren't big enough for the task!  I admit that I'm not a big fencer type person and watching the tourney was just not my thing.  I hope I can get out of it at Pennsic!

Court was really cool!  I was awarded the Doe's Grace.  I was totally floored since I still didn't think I was doing enough to warrent awards.  Plus Cassie and Tessa worked together to make sure I was out of the scribe's room when they were signing scrolls.  One day I will catch on when people are being sneaky!  The scroll is amazing!  It's covered in poppies!  I can't wait to frame it and hang it up!

Dinner was at Smokey Bones.  I pretty much just caught up with Cassie the whole time which was aok with me!  There was loads of stuff!  We went to the hotel after that and hung out with Lutr for a bit but we were all exhausted so just crashed.  The bed was not ideal but after 36 hours up I could have slept anywhere!

Yesterday we just drove home (me still sleeping) than I sat around making trim and watching movies.  I need to get more black and red yarn for crown trim and than red for midrealm trim.  Plus the Gunnar wants trim for all of his outfits.  I hope I can think of enough patterns!

Who knew? [May. 9th, 2008|08:36 pm]

rei082
So it turns out that I'm a huge Battlestar Galactica fan! Both old and new series.

Who knew?

I'm still on the fence about Starbuck being a girl... he's like the Shaft of the fleet and than grows boobies? What what? The old ones seem more plot driven without alot of character development, which is typical of these older shows. The new ones definatly have continuity from show to show and so it feels like we are able to get to know the characters alot better.

Of course I didn't start watchign these in a smart way. We got the 3 seasons of BG on dvd so I thought I would try and watch the old ones before I watched the new ones. No time! So I'm watching the concurrently. I do not recommend it! Its sort of like watching Star Trek TNG and DS9 at the same time when Warf is on both!

Possible cold? [May. 8th, 2008|11:48 pm]

rei082
I have been suffereing a cold/allergy thing for a bit over a week now. I'm really tired of the drippy nose and general stuffy feeling! I made some chicken noodle soup today in an effort to battle the cold and the rain. I'm not sure my soup can combate the tornado that was two miles from here but it would have been a close fight! Now I have to make the eternal desicion: Oreo Klondike bar or strawberries?

Maeve! How are you doing?

Iron Man! [May. 6th, 2008|12:30 pm]

rei082
That movie rocked!  I was super impressed with everything about it since I'm not a huge Iron Man or Robert Downey Jr fan but wowza!  I was so impressed with the graphics plus the humor that never really got tired or stale.  And the last bit after the credits was awesome!  Although as we were walking out someone said that the Avengers were with Captain Planet so I was giggling a lot!  My man loves Iron Man so loved the plane scene, thinking it was very evocative of Tony Stark's mannerisms.

I already want to go see it again!

[matt_arnold]
Yesterday's cookout, handoff meeting, and bonfire party went really well. I've mentioned before that there has been an enormous outpouring of volunteerism, and it showed. There must have been 40 people wandering through at one point or another. Tyler Haske from Kalamazoo took notes of the meeting, which will be posted on this blog soon.Read more... )

Brother's graduation [May. 2nd, 2008|08:42 pm]

rei082
So my brother is graduating on Sunday and I am helping my mom make food for it.  I made Oatmeal raisin cookies, fudge, and butterscotch brownies.  I think I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies tomorrow and maybe an Ice Cream Sunday cake for my man.

I've been having a really clutzy day though!  I went to the store today and got some eggs and forgot to roll up my window when I got home.  Of course it rained and the entire inside of my car got soaked!

Than while I was making the fudge I some how managed to flip a whole sppon  of 200 degree chocolate down my front and onto my bare feet.  I did it again later but it went onto the floor that time!

Than while cleaning the whole mess up I managed to dump a whole mixing bowl of water all over the floor!

I also forgot to butter the inside of the pot for fudge so had a huge sticky mess on the insde of it.    I need to find a new fudge recipe!  Is the one on the back of the marshmellow fluff any good?
